Wonderful! But Defective...
Reviewer: Brooke from Florida, April 17, 2010
I have had two Sedu straightners so far. I have not found annything that compares. My hair is always shinier, silkier, thinner, and stays straight longer when i use it. Last year I got this straighter in the middle of the summer and it was fantastic. On Easter Day it kept going on and off and had problems heating up and it wasnt damaged at all. I took care of it. Now bc of my warranty i got a new one and guess what, the next easter... just a couple weeks ago. it did the exact same thing.
Its a great product
Just lousy in the long run
I still recommend
I recommend this iron to everyone!

This flat iron is great! I've had mine for 3.5 years now and it hasn't disappointed me yet. I've tried other ceramic irons (CHI, Solia, HerStyler) and they are all quite heavy and start to weigh down on your wrists after straightening for a while. I love that the Sedu is so light and straightens my hair so smoothly and easily! I've recommended this iron to all my friends who want to buy flat irons and they all love theirs too!
Good tool to renew the hair

I have used this Sedu ionic hair straightener for 3 months, my hair has been changed from frizzy to shiny & smooth now. I wanna sincerely thank this hair straightener and I will highly recommend it to my friends, cuz it's really a good tool to renew the hair.
Does the job

I have used many of my friends straighteners after i bought this one. Some straighten faster, but none of them keep my hair as silky as the one i own. My hair feels much less burned using this straightener than using others. It also has a wide range of temperatures. Overall it is a great straightener, but it does take longer than other ones. I have very curly hair so it would take long no matter what. I recommend this straightener, especially to people that don't want their hair damaged easily.
Best of the best

Best investment I have ever made. I have had mine for 2 years and it works the same as the day I bought it. I have even dropped in on ceramic a few times. I laugh at the girls who rave about this new hair straightener they bought from walmart or target.. they will never understand how effectively some straighteners work out there. They are wasting their time every day and ripping their hair out on a straightener they bought for 30.00. To this day, I say its the best $130.00 I have ever spent. I cut my straightening time from 2 hours to 15 minutes. Works so well I even bought the blow dryer. Cut my drying time down from 45 minutes to 5!
not what i expected...

I was so thrilled when I got my Sedu a year and a half ago. I had owned several other "top-notch" irons before, (i.e. CHI, global beauty, among others) and I was convinced I had finally found the iron that would live up to its rave reviews. Not so :(. It was great at first, believe me. But just in time for the warranty to run out, it started to fall apart. The plates started to come loose from the handles so that they snagged on my hair and damaged it. Performance-wise, it works great; byfar better than any cheap drugstore-brand coil iron. But as for longevity and quality, I do not feel like it's worth the money.
Now I'm seriously skeptical of any good reviews I read on websites like this one. I don't think too many people take the time to really gauge the durability of their iron over time, which is a very important factor, to me at least. Just thought I'd put it out there... don't be fooled by the reviews!!

not what i expected

ok...so i wanted to buy a straightener that was really good right? so i ordered this because i read reviews that put it on a pedestal. but when i got it in the mail i was disappointed a little bit. not that looks really matter but its more of a gray than a black which it shows on the computer...and the cord is kinda big and bulky and gets in the way sometimes. as for quality...it seems really cheap like its made out of plastic almost. and it doesnt seem to work better or do wonders for my hair any better than a $30 revlon. i gave it a 3 because it does work. just not any better than one you can buy at a drugstore. and this is just my opinion...it might work better for others.
It was great, till it died.

For months last year, i spent a lot of time researching a good hair straightener. And finally I thought I found a great one, which was the sedu. I figuired since everyone loved it so much, that it must have been worth the 131 dollars it was at the time, so I saved up all my babysitting money and allowance so i could finally afford it. My dad warned me, that I probably shouldn't have gotten it because of the fact that it was so expensive and that they might not honor their warranty, but it seemed so perfect so i got it anyway.
And it was perfect, for about 4 months anyway. After those 4 months it started having problems heating up, like it would just randomly start turning off when moved a certain way, and it started taking much longer to heat up also.
And as if that wasn't bad enough a few months after that, sparks started coming out near the straightener itself, so we had to cover it with electric tape, which helped for a little while.
Sooner or later, though i suppose it was bound to happen, it just died. It would turn on at all.
The really strange thing about all of this? The same thing happened to one of my best friends that i reccomended this product too, sparks and everything.
I took great care of it too, so it shouldn't have been a problem with improper care, especially since i know someone who's had the same problem.
I'm probably going to get bombed for this, but I wouldn't reccomend this certain product to anyone. Especially since the warranty doesn't even cover the cord.
Which happens to be one of the main problems.
Too bad, it was fantastic to start with.
CHI?
