Straight to the point

Given that I have real issues with my mop, I'm a bit of a salesperson's dream with hair products and when the opportunity arose to have a ringlet free head, I leapt at the chance.
I've worked my way through plenty of hair straighteners so, needless to say, I've spent a lot of money to research what works and what doesn't. I've tried gas powered ones (useless), steam powered ones (absolute nightmare) and big chunky, supposedly professional ones which do have the ability to clamp most of the hair on your head in them but do little else except give your hair the consistency of straw.
Sick of hearing me whine on an on about my emergency perm, my sister got online and bought me some ceramics when they first came on the market. They were disgustingly expensive (about £75) and she had to buy them directly through a salon as they weren't available in shops at the time. I struggled with them for ages, but I had to dedicate about one hour to get my hair straightened with each use and, even then, my hair didn't stay kink free for very long.
A little while later, all my friends starting harping on about the miracle of GHD's, but I refused to fork out so much money as I was sure there must be a cheaper alternative and I wasn't overly impressed with them anyway, as they didn't grip my baby fine hair. As luck would have it, my sister found the joys of the Remington Power Ceramic (CS1000) shortly afterwards and neither of us have ever looked back.
I think she bought hers for around £34.99, but mine were an absolute bargain at £24.99 in the Argos sale. So far they have stood me in good stead for the past two years and if/when they die on me, I'll happily buy the same model again. I use these pretty much everyday (I can hear all the hairdresers screaming STOP in my head), but I protect my hair with products and get it cut regularly and so far so good.
I'd strongly recommend these to all those with curly, fine hair, despite the fact that most hairdressers would probably advise against it. But it would be worthwhile investing in some decent protein protective spray/serum and get regular trims to ensure you don't do too much damage to your barnett.
Remington CS1000 - a girls best friend!!

A girls best friend indeed. These hair straightners can be used to straighten, curl and flick hair, to give amazingly glamorous looking locks.
Within seconds the Remington CS1000 straightners have heated up, so theres no waiting with this baby, and with one clamp and slow pull even the curlier hair is extremly straight.
If its a flick you want the rounded edges allow kink free hair.
And, using the same technique as if you were curling ribbon the Remington CS1000 will give you ringlets a china doll would be jealous of.
The Remington CS1000 straightners also contains an ingredient which helps protect your hair, however a heat protection product wouldnt be a miss.
Despite the irons getting a very hot, and heat damage and fires can be prevented by buying a hair straightner mat, which you can perchase from Woolworths.
Deffinatly an 11/10 from me.

I think I'm on my 3rd set of these now, the first worked great for a few weeks then they made a 'popping' noise and stopped heating. I tried again and the second set last me ages, which is why I have recently bought another set. They are slim so you can get right to the roots (although this sometimes leads to scalp burns!) and they are also easy to pack for travelling. They heat up very quickly, which is great for me as I take ages getting ready! It takes me about 10 minutes max to straighten all of my hair once it's dry. I'm not sure how well they work on thicker/very curly hair.
I'm very happy with these and would recommend them. Also they don't cost a fortune, like some straighteners but will do an equally good job.

I bought my remington power ceramic straightener from boots for £19.65 (which is its current price) and it is usually around £30.
It has a 2yr guarantee on it.
The sraightener says it gives 'instant salon straight hair' and the fast heat creates 'healthy shiny hair'. It does all this to my hair. First of all, I should tell you about my hair type since it's only mine I've used it on. I have long, wavy hair which is reasonably thick. (The hairtools ceramic straightener didn't work on it).
The remington straightener has an on/off switch, and a light indicator that comes on when the sraightener is switched on at the mains, as well as it's swtich being put on. You must wait only 60 seconds before the straightener is ready to use, the downside is that there is no guide to when it is ready, i find that by swutching it on, then carefully brushing through my hair and applying heat protector spray (recomended) they are ready for use.
It has a heat protection pad at the front of it, no both the bottom and top. I find these ideal to squeeze when finished off my hair, as they don't feel hot at all. The plates are not entirely ceramic, they are just cermaic coated, thus making them cheaper to buy, but just as efficent. They can easily glide through long, thick hair without snagging or pulling. The ceramic-coated plates mean that there is an even heat distribution on your hair, preventing damage to your hair and making it easier to style. The plates are also rounded and narrow, enabling you to strighten, flick and wave all hair lengths. The straightener is narrow, helping you to reach all parts of your hair.
They have a 2metre cable, and hang up loop for convenient storage. The remingtn straightener also comes with a handy travel bag, a sectioning comb and 4 sectioning clips, making straightening even easier.
The straightener provides efficent and outstanding results, that lasts all day. The only down sid
e (as with every straightner) is that moistture in the air makes it go a little frizzy, which happens even when hair isn't straightened. This isn't as likely if you apply a fine spray of hair spray over the finished hair. Remember to invest in a good heat protector spray, such as Charles Wothington heat protector spray, £1.65 for a takes aways bottle (75ml) ot £3.95 for a larger bottle (200ml). These are available in Boots. I also find that a little bit of Charles Worthington Takeaways Silkening Serum flattens down any fuzzy bits, and brings out the sleek shine.
I am very happy with these straighteners, they give me sleek, smooth straight hair in a very short amount of time (I can have my hair straightened by myself in about 10 minutes, and my hair is very long).
