Counterfeit or Real Chi ?

My sister purchased a Chi hair iron(Farouk) on ebay for me. When I used it, my hair smoked and it discolored my hair--I have(or had) beautiful, healthy gray and black curly hair..it straightened it great but why did it discolor my hair(wouldn't wash out either) and why did my hair smoke in the process?

I have had a CHI for a few months now, the pink brest cancer one. At first I loved it, but after awhile, It began to fry my hair. I have noticed the health of my hair go down hill since I got it. I have more fly aways then I had before! Personally, I wouldn't really recommend it. Very overated.

My hair is very hard to manage, and all of my straighteners haven't worked except the CHI. The CHI has left my hair silky, soft and most importantly straight. In the mornings when I am getting ready for school, it takes me 45 minutes to "straighten" my hair. After and hour my hair just goes back to being big and wavy. I also have a cowlick on the side of my head and i could never get it to lay flat with my other straighteners. And if i ever did get it to lay flat it would take me forever to do it. With the CHI it takes me 1-2 strokes and then it lays perfectly flat. I am having such great results with this straightener. I recommend this to everyone with dry, frizzy, unruly hair. ¢¾

I have had my chi straightener for about a year.At first I was very excited about the results I got.But now it isn't so great after all.I realize now from hearing other stories that I was not suppose to wrap the cord around it, but if you ask me, I don't think that is a sufficient excuse for a $101 product not to work. I just recently used a paul mitchell iron that gave me just as great of results if not better and my stylist said that unlike the chi, this one would not give you problems even if you wrap the cord around it!

I love this straightener so much. I recomend it to everyone I know. I don't even blowdry my hair anymore, i just take a shower at night and let my hair air dry, then in the morning i straightening it and it takes all of my waves out and I have perfectly straight hair in several minutes. This has saved so much time and my hair looks great (not dry, but very healthy and shiny), buy this, it's worth the price.

I feel SO good Having a good hair straightener like CHI. I bought CHI hair straightener and it help me save lots of time. My hair shiny and sleek, stay straight for much longer time than the one I had ever used. I want to say thank you. Chi is the one worth to spend the pennies.

My CHI hair straightener is the best one I have used ever. But it's not durable. I had two CHIs - the first one lasted 12 months, and the second one only 4 months. I am not lucky? Maybe I will give Sedu a try.

It is so easy to use, super versitile, and produces amazing results! Being someone who used to just wash-and-go because the hassle of straightening my hair was so immense, I was skeptical, especially at the price you pay for this thing. However, I was not disappointed. There is a reason that every hairdresser owns one of these...it's just that good. I have had some power problems such that it will temporarily turn itself off, but it always comes back on, so I think it might be an overheating protection mechanism.

Last year I was given the CHI model as a gift and let's just say that I "donated" the Conair model. I'm not the kind of person to follow with celebrity trends, but there is a reason why this flat iron is so popular with the "elite," if you will.
It takes up half the time my old Conair model did in heating up. Hell, I can get my hair done in less time with the Chi than it would take for my old flat iron to heat up! My hair is soft, shiny, and it doesn't look or feel like I'm putting it through a torture chamber.
I was raised to believe that it is rude to ask someone how much money they may have spent on a personal gift. My cousin owns a Chi flat iron and slipped the price one day during a conversation. While I am shocked that it cost that much money, I can only tell the fellow curly haired, humidity suffering people that this flat iron is worth every single penny!
