POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
Reviewer: Shopper @ Maplewood Mall, MN from MN, January 4, 2011
When I got to the kiosk, the girl named MIKA was acting ALL super nice like she was my bff. Compliment my makeup blah, blah. I asked her how much the iron was, she wouldn't tell me, but she told me to sit down and she'll do my hair. And so I did just that. After she finished my hair, she offered me $150 for the pink/cheetah one and the plain ones were a bit cheaper. She finally went down to $80. I told her I will come back tomorrow to get it since I get paid tomorrow anyway. She said, "Why are you being so cheap on yourself?" I was like WTF? Did you just say I'm cheap! And she just kept insulting me- saying "Did I come to the mall with no money?" I was thinking- Girl, I make more than you! anyway I really like the straightner, BUT because she had VERY SUPER poor customer service, I declined and didnt go back. I'm not giving my money to someone who insulted me! Gosh, they need some SUPER training or something. OR shut them down!!
Glad I did butt pushy people

I just went shopping on Thursday when a salesman called me to try amika...I've never really heard of it...I've only heard about the chi which everyone is saying it's so good, but after reading reviews on that I'm not sure about getting that anymore...anyway, the salesguy for amika told me this product is way better than chi and started testing it on my hair...he asked me if I have any sisters and I said yes so he suggested it for me to purchase for her but I told him I have 6 sisters so he said well I'll give you a discount you can buy three at the regular price and I'll give u three for free...during all this conversation I kept asking him how much the product was but but I got no answers in regards to that..anyway he finally told me it's $200 then I said wow that's way too much I can't afford it...he drastically changed the price to $110 when I told him I won't be able to spend so much for my sisters and if I get one it would be my present...he added that hr would give me a free bag and hair oil to go along with that price..so I was almost sold on this product cause I'm kinda due for a new straightener...I have a titainium tools straightner I bought over two years ago which still works great but the only prob is it got a bit damaged on the plate so it makes ur hair smell a bit...I paid like just over $80 for it...lastly I have natural extreme tight curls and if this product kills ur curls after a while I will definately stay away from it thanks guys...oh the end of that sales convo was that I told him I have to confirm with my husband first via text to see if it's oky and I'll come back if it was...I never went back cause my hubby said u have to be careful cause a lot of those little booths that sell products in the malls disappear after they sell u their product and u never hear or see them again..and I recall that happening to us last year...
BEST ONE

I work at the Mid Rivers Mall kiosk and I sell the Amika flat irons. I do not sell anything I do not belive in. I have seen my manager take apart the machine and I have seen it's true quality. It IS 100% ceramic unless the CHi, Paul Mitchell and everyhting else out there that people swear by. I am not foreign. I few foreign people work there but not all. I'm all white American lol...Theyre not selling you a fake product at mid rivers. we order straight from the manufactorer from loveamika.com Now there are other kiosk at different malls that will sell you knock off Amikas, its sad but its called cheapening a product to make a profit just like alot of companys do. It's scary bcc they look exactly the same but will not work the same. So some of the reviews may be bad yes but thats because they dont have the true amika. I actually bought an amika before i worked there and i loved it so much that i wanted to sell them and show them to every women! they heat up fast, straighten your hair one time through, shine your hair with your natural moisture that you have in your hair, never burn your hair or even a cotton ball. put a cotton ball in between yours and if it burns then its not a real amika. i put a cotton ball in the ones at mid rivers everyday to show customers if it cant even burn this fragile cotton ball how can it burn your hair? this machine works at the curliest hair!! no need to go over so many times to get it straight! the best thing i love about this product though is the shine ive gotten out of it. everyone asks me about my hair and what i use. i actually sell the amikas from my hair lol its sooo shiny and smooth its crazy. like i said though if i didnt believe in this product, i would NOT sell it and i would NOT use it. some may drop the price for you but thats only bc we'd rather make a lower sale then not make one at all and we know that the area doesnt have that high of an income. we may loose profit though since when we buy it off loveamika.com it does cost alot but when we buy it in packages its cheaper. but we really try not to lower the price bc it is worth every damn penny but people are broke. but they ARe worth 200-250 dollars. u can see it on the box. anyways, u can use this one your hair DAMP (not wet) or dry. u can curl with it (when your hair is dry and hasnt been straightened yet) and style with it with flips. we have floating plates so theres no creases in the curls or flips. alot of people might not know how to use it, sounds weird but alot of people dont know that you have to first brush the damn hair, put your hair in section since u have to get close to the root, thats why we give you sectional clips, get close to the root so you get the most mouisture and then go slow. not just take chunks and try to go down all fast. its not how you get the full effect. you might as well wear ur hair in a pony if u dont atleast ten minutes. the only reason why we get all excited and kinda in your face is bc we know that you wont try it unless we do and we realllly want you to try it bc once u do we know youll love it. but its getting them to sit down first. im never rude like ive been hearing in other reviews though. okay maybe sometimes :) haha but thats bc people are rude too! lol. im there everyday though so i can change peoples lives. no joke. some peoples hair omg...i never noticed...now that i look around, sometimes i wanna show them the amika when im not even working!! now what does that say?? anyways i gotta go lol this is too long. try it out is all i have to say....the real amika that is.
so far so good

I got my amika straightner as an early xmas gift from my boyfriend. So far I love it. Figuring out the curling technique is a lil tricky. As long as the company lives up to the lifetime warranty they say they have, for ANY reason...then its perfect! But I do agree with the review above, the sales reps do say anything & offer u more & more for less money...so how much do their products really cost if they can lower the price so significantly?
Love Amika Hated losing my natural curls
Reviewer: Meisha from Milwaukee, WI, November 24, 2010
I am an African American who went natural without any chemicals in my hair. I love wearing my hair straight, and Amika does the job. The only thing I don't like and didn't anticipate was losing my natural curls. When I wash my hair, it is now wavy instead of spiral curly. I miss my head of curls. However, my clients love love love, when I use these on their hair.
Manipulative Salesmen
Reviewer: Stephanie from PA, November 11, 2010
It is an awesome straightner but the sales people piss me off...I know the straightner must not truly be worth that much money. When i first got to the stand she told me she would give it to me for 150, i said that i am a poor college student, and she lowered it too 90 and added hair care products (conditioner/shampoo), then i said i still wouldn't so she added a free carrying case and dropped the price to 79. And i gotta free brush. Definately haggle with the sales people, you'll get a deal.
who should i trust?

almost half of the users reviewed 5 stars about this hair straightener, but the others were all 1 star, who should i trust. they make this product a puzzle.
Where to buy in stl mo?
Reviewer: Mm from Stl mo, October 25, 2010
Hey, you said mills mall sells fake ones? I was there today and they talked me into trying it on my hair. I was going to buy it but want to ask for it for xmAs. How do you know if it's the REAL brand and not fAke or knock off? I live close to Chesterfield or Galleria.
It is good!
